Another band that is well worth the attention that they are starting to get (they played Conan the other week) is Ra Ra Riot.
I saw them at the Horseshoe and was very, very impressed. Like the Hold Steady, they play with joy and without any trace of the irony that seems to have infected so many artists these days...
That they encored with an amazing cover of Kate Bush's "Hounds of Love" blew me away and actually gave me goosebumps. I love that they can do such justice to a song that appeared in '85, when some of the band probably hadn't even been born yet.
